Yellow Onion

Here is my sketch for Everyday Matters #179: Draw an Onion.

3"x4" watercolor on Arches 140# cold press paper

This also marks the final day of the 3rd Annual Thing-a-Day challenge. While I did not post something new every day for the month of February, I did manage to create something new every day. In that sense, Thing-a-Day was a great success! Plus, it was fun to see everyone's postings on the blog.

DSFDF Week 23-24 Challenge: Lollipop Mannequin Heads

Different Strokes Week 23-24 Challenge
(watercolor, Arches 90# hot press watercolor paper)

This month's Different Strokes for Different Folks challenge featured a bevy of wig-wearing mannequin heads in a store window.

They looked like happy lollipop heads to me!

Here is the link to the original photo.

You can see all of the artistic interpretations at Karin's blog on March 4th.

Nancy Pelosi sketch

Here is a quick sketch of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi that I drew while watching President Obama's address to the joint session of Congress last night:
And here she is with a little color. Can anyone enlighten me as to the actual color of her interesting suit? On my television, it was very pea green.

Jazz Apple Sketches

EDM challenge 91: Draw an Apple

This is a "Jazz" apple. After sketching it, I realized the sketch did not do justice to its perky name. So, I did a second version.

Version 1:

Fabriano hot press 90# watercolor paper (traditonal white)

Version 2:

Arches 140# cold press watercolor paper (bright white)

Red Tulips in Black Vase

These slightly droopy but brightly-hued tulips caught my eye today. They are sitting on the table in our entryway, remnants of a Valentine tableau.

I'd like to welcome everyone to my new Blogger blog. Thank you for coming from Christine's Art Blog (which was having problems showing up properly in Internet Explorer). I hope you like what you see, and that you'll check back soon!

You can view a collection of my sketches (first shown on my prior blog) in the left sidebar. See, just up and to your left, there. And please feel free to leave me a comment, to let me know that you've found me. Thanks!

All my best,
