Hotel Monaco Goldfish sketch

Hotel Monaco Goldfish, 5"x7"
(watercolor, Derwent Inktense wc pencils, Arches 300# cp)

The Hotel Monaco in Seattle provides a pet goldfish to each guest who would like one during the length of their stay. This little fellow greeted us in the elevator waiting area when we arrived on our floor. What a pleasant surprise!

OMG! Too cute! I always love the colorful palette you use... it just brightens up my day.

I love this idea! I never feel at home in hotel rooms but a pet goldfish would definitely help. Super drawing of the fishy too.

Christine, what's that pink you use? It's such a pretty colour.

Sheila, yes, I am certainly drawn towards a bright palette these days!

Aveen, in this sketch I used Derwent Inktense wc pencil Fuchsia (107) and then brushed over it with a light wash of Daler-Rowney Quinacridone Magenta.

Another favorite pink I often use is Graham Quinacridone Rose.

Thank you, Melissa! He really did seem to be peering upwards!
