Karin Jurick's challenge at Different Strokes from Different Folks (week 32-34) is a photo of Madison Avenue, New York City. Although it features taxi cabs and lots of tall buildings, my eye was drawn to the person standing on the edge of the sidewalk. I think he lends a bit of humanity to the busy urban landscape.

Love this! I like the man looking out at the sea of cars.
I was wondering how you would manage to produce a clean, uncluttered 'Christine Pierce' from this challenge -- and you've done it! The name is the perfect finishing touch.
Love it, and the counter-balancing orange building that echos his shirt. Pink cabs--fantastic!
Thank you, Sheila!
Charlene, I had to sit with this challenge for awhile before I knew what to do with it. I actually did another version first, but it just didn't feel right. I'm glad you like the name :)
Liz, thank you so much!
I love this whimsical light and sensitive interpretation. Especially the colours.
Christine, I can't tell you how jealous I am at your ability to pare this complicated subject down into simple but interesting and essential shapes and colors. It's fun, and full of whimsy, but still very NYC.
Christine, I knew you'd come through with something airy and bright like this, it is wonderful!! I especially like that pink car, such a nice foil for the green foliage. Wait, I think I'm counting *four* pink cars! haha That's great. Why not? Yours is one of the stars of the KJ show, missie. Kudos!
bluelilac, I really appreciate your kind words!
r, I am so glad that you consider my simplification to be a positive thing :)
Camille, I'm delighted you like all of the pink cars. Yes, there are four of them, LOL!
Now how fun can you get? Just love this.
I love the abstract feel of your piece and the person .
Thank you, BMoon and Dominique!
